Autopista and autovía
Identifies an autopista or autovía. When it belongs to a regional government, the abbreviation of the autonomous community may be added after the letter A and the corresponding number, or above the sign on a supplementary panel. No road without the characteristics of an autopista or autovía may be identified with the letter A. When the autopista or autovía is a ring road or bypass, the letter A may be replaced by the letters identifying the city, according to the code set for this purpose by the Ministry of Public Works (Ministerio de Fomento).
